Set in the World Heritage-listed Lamington National Park, O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat is a tourist destination in the locality of O'Reilly, Scenic Rim Region, Queensland, Australia.

It is situated in the heart of the Lamington National Park, two hours by road south of Brisbane and 90 minutes by road west of the Gold Coast. It is well known for its rainforest location, unique and diverse wildlife, and for being the home of the late Bernard O'Reilly, an Australian bushman and author, who is remembered for his efforts in locating the survivors of the 1937 Stinson plane crash.

The Tree Top Walk is a 180 metre long suspension bridge situated 20 metres above the rainforest floor. The Tree Top Walk provides a bird-eye view of the rainforest canopy.

Lamington National Park covers 21,176ha and boasts extensive walking tracks along the McPherson Range, which allow visitors to explore the area's forests, creeks and waterfalls. Dramatic lookouts in Lamington afford views over the Gold Coast, south-east Queensland and northern New South Wales.

Lamington is part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area, which includes the most extensive areas of subtropical rainforest in the world and most of the world's warm temperate rainforest. The 20,600 hectares (51,000 acres) Lamington National Park is known for its natural environment, rainforests, birdlife, ancient trees, waterfalls, walking tracks and mountain views. The park protects parts of the Eastern Australian temperate forests. Most of the park is situated 900 metres (3,000 ft) above sea level only 30 kilometres (19 mi) from the Pacific's ocean shores. The plateaus and cliffs in Lamington and Springbrook National Parks are the northern and north western remnants of the huge 23-million-year-old Tweed Volcano, centred around Mount Warning.

The Gondwana Rainforests provide an interesting living link with the evolution of Australia. Few places on earth contain so many plants and animals which remain relatively unchanged from their ancestors in the fossil records.

Some of the oldest examples of the world's ferns and conifers are found here and there is a concentration of primitive plant families that are direct links with the birth and spread of flowering plants over 100 million years ago. The giant king fern Todea Barbara is a relic from one of the oldest fern families, Osmundaceae, evolving even before the breakup of the supercontinent Gondwana approximately 200 million years ago.

Many large clumps of Antarctic Beech trees are found in the area. The Antarctic Beech grows in Australia's cool temperate rainforests, between altitudes of 480 m and 1550 m. The Antarctic Beech is considered by many to be the key genus in the evolution and biogeography of plants of the Southern Hemisphere.

Lamington is home to an incredible variety of wildlife including rare and threatened animals such as the Coxen's fig parrot, eastern bristlebird, Albert's lyrebird, Richmond birdwing butterfly. Other rare species include the rainforest cool-skink, elf skink and numerous frog species including the Fleay's barred frog, giant barred frog and the cascade treefrog. Red-necked pademelons can be seen near the edges of the rainforest and platypus may be spotted in the deeper rock pools.

The Lamington Crayfish is best known from its type locality in Lamington National Park, Queensland. A member of the Giant Spiny Group of crayfish they grow to a large size, are fearless and are well known for their vibrant blue colour.

The park is contains more than 500 waterfalls, including popular tourist falls Elabana Falls and Box Log (Tullerigumai) Falls located in the Green Mountains Section. Morans Falls is another cascade that is passed on the 6-kilometre (3.7 mi) long Morans Falls Track. The park is covered by more than 150 km (93 mi) of clearly marked walks.

The well maintained and signed Border Track, links Binna Burra Lodge to the O'Reilly's guesthouse at Green Mountains, a distance of some 23 kilometres (14 mi), which can be completed one way in a day or in 7 to 8 hours. A number of other well marked and varied walks include the Box Forest Circuit, which is 10.9 kilometres (6.8 mi) or 4 hours return from O'Reilly's; Toolona Creek Circuit, which is 17.4 kilometres (10.8 mi) or 6 hours return, and the Albert River Circuit, which is 20.6 kilometres (12.8 mi) or 7 hours return to O'Reilly's, to name some of the best known walks.

Tooloona Creek Circuit is recognised as one of the most beautiful bushwalks in Australia.
